Web hosting

Saves you from a site that goes down on a bank holiday weekend.

Message me about this

Remote first

Most of what breaks is fixed without anybody travelling, and you can watch me do it.

On site when it needs it

Galway, Mayo, Clare and along the N6 — and further by arrangement.

One person, not a queue

You get me. No ticket reference, no first-line script, no hold music.

Hosting is the least interesting thing you will ever buy and the easiest to get badly wrong. Almost nobody chooses it deliberately — it came with whoever built the site, or it was the cheapest result on a comparison page in 2019, and the only time anyone thinks about it again is the morning the site is down.

What you are really paying for

What you are actually paying for is somebody noticing. A site can be offline for two days before a small business hears about it, usually from a customer who assumed you had closed. Here the servers are watched, so the problem gets found before your phone rings, and the person who answers when you ask about it is in Ireland and knows your site.

The servers are Irish, which matters for two ordinary reasons rather than any patriotic one: pages load faster for the customers who are actually going to buy from you, and your data stays where your customers assume it is. SSL is included and renews itself, so the padlock never quietly lapses and starts scaring people off at the checkout.

Moving your site across

Moving an existing site across is free and I do it, not you. It happens in the background, gets tested on a temporary address before anything switches, and the changeover is timed so the site does not blink during your busiest hours. You will need to do nothing except tell me when suits.

Keeping WordPress out of trouble

If the site is WordPress, keeping it up to date is a separate job from keeping it online, and it is the one people skip. An unpatched plugin is how most small business sites get defaced or start sending spam. Ongoing maintenance covers the updates, the checking that the updates did not break anything, and the fixing when they did.
